Week 1
*Special shout out to my daughters Emory, Lainey, and Tenley for the phenomenal acting job and camera work they provided on this video.
Indiana +31
The Hoosiers host the Buckeyes of Ohio State as 31 point underdogs at home to open the season. I know Ohio State is suppose to be the best team and ever and Indiana has sucked for two years and they are going to be even worse this year blah blah blah. 31 points at home in a conference game with the Buckeyes breaking in a new quarterback is just too many points. I believe in Coach Allen to be competitive enough to keep it within 4 touchdowns.
Washington -14
I’m a big believer in the Huskies this year with returning quarterback Micheal Penix Jr. fresh off of leading the country in passing yards last season. Boise State does not have the same magic they once did in the 2000’s, they are only 2-5 in their last 7 games against a power 5 team and I think Washington is just a lot better than what the Broncos are going to bring to Husky Stadium.
UTSA -2
If you know me and you’ve been following Coffee with Creta for the last 3 years, you know I am going to take the Roadrunners any chance I get. Love Jeff Traylor and what he’s been doing in San Antonio. Some how quarterback Frank Harris is back for his 21st year of eligibility and they return 2 of their 3 all conference wide receivers from a year ago. I expect this to be a back and forth game just like last year except I think it will be UTSA squeaking out a close victory instead of the Cougars. Meep! Meep!
South Carolina +3
Battle of the Carolina’s. The Gamecocks were one of the hottest teams in the country last year with huge wins over Tennessee and Clemson to finish the regular season. I think they found their recipe for success late and that’s to not ask to much of Spencer Rattle(d)r and just pound the rock and play really good defense. I think that is a great gameplan for this game. I think the fighting Mack Brown’s may be a bit overrated heading into the season and I need to see more winning out of quarterback Drake Maye before I jump on that bandwagon. Plus a home team getting points, what’s better than that?
South Alabama +7
Tulane went 12-2 last year winning the AAC, winning the Cotton Bowl over USC, and with another road victory at future Big XII champ Kansas State and they return tons of talent including their quarterback Pratt and you’re telling me Vegas only has them a touchdown favorite at home against South Alabama? That line stinks and to me Vegas is telling you they don’t think Tulane will be able to repeat what they did last year. Sometimes Vegas gives you signs about what they think of teams by the amount of the spread and I think this is one of those cases. Also how can you root against USA? Not me, I’m loyal to the soil. USA! USA! USA!
