Week 3

Getting a little bit tired of these teams doing the opposite of what they need to do, so let’s get back on track with a big 3-0 weekend.

Memphis/Navy-Under 47.5 (Thursday Night Game)-Memphis has played 2 teams that have combined for 23 total points. Bethune-Cookman (who has to play Miami this week. Yikes) who scored 20, and Arkansas State who scored 3 last week. Navy isn’t exactly lighting up the scoreboard either, totaling a whopping 27 points themselves (3 against Notre Dame and 24 against Wagner last week). Short week for both teams plays into this as well. Not sure you could get a battleship far enough up the Mississippi to give Navy’s triple option the firepower it needs to score enough to endanger this bet. Beale Street is gonna be rockin’, there’s gonna be a tv on in The Jungle Room at Graceland after everyone goes home for the day, and me and The King are gonna be smiling when it’s all over. Give me the under and give me a 1-0 start to the weekend. Thank you, thank you very much.

Maryland/Virginia-Over 49 (Friday Night Game)-Virginia is coming off a heartbreaking 36-35 loss to James Madison. An emotional night paired with an emotional loss like that, means there’s gonna be some baggage to shake off, and now you gotta go up the road (although not very far) to College Park, Maryland and play the Terrapins, who are coming off a 38-20 win against Charlotte. Little Tua can sling it around the yard, and I think they may cover this one themselves. It is a short week for both squads, but I expect Virginia to try and redeem themselves from last week, which only adds to the over hitting in this one. 2-0, let’s keep it going!

Florida State/Boston College-Over 49-Florida State is back and laying it on teams so far this season. They’ve beaten a seemingly good LSU team 45-24, then demolished a far weaker opponent in Southern Miss, 66-13. Boston College will be home for the third week in a row. They lost in OT to Northern Illinois 27-24 in week one, and then BARELY beat the fighting Bob Cousy’s (you should know who he is. If not, Google “Houdini of the Hardwood”) 31-28 last week. Florida State does what good teams do, and that’s destroy weaker competition, and Boston College just isn’t in the same class as them this year. It IS the Red Bandana Game (look up the meaning behind this one. Very cool thing they do at B.C.) so that’s why I stayed away from the spread. I think any other week, Florida State could win this by 30+, but I ain’t touching it this week. I think B.C. is gonna be hyped as they always are for the Red Bandana Game, and I think they find a way to get into the double digits, which is going to be more than enough to get us this over. 3-0 and couldn’t be happier!
