HAPPY HALLOWEEN Last Week: 2-3 Season: 21-22 49%
Oklahoma -9 (at Kansas)
Three weeks ago, I would have taken the Jayhawks and the points at home and ran straight to Vegas and placed a mortgage bet. Since then, OU has beaten Texas by 4 then survived UCF last week. The Jayhawks have beaten UCF by 30 and lost to Oklahoma State. I think the Sooners are the better team and after they suffered a scare last week, I think OU plays some of their best ball and beats Kansas handedly.
Florida +14.5 (neutral field v. Georgia)
Rivalry game. Florida has improved in their 2nd year under Billy Napier. The Gator offense is been on fire lately as Wisconsin transfer quarterback Graham Mertz has found his groove. Georgia is the better football team no doubt, but they lost their best player to injury in tight end Brock Bowers and this will be their first game without their best weapon. I think the Bulldogs win the game but I like the Gators to cover as they are getting 2 touchdowns and the hook.
BYU +19 (at Texas)
BYU created 5 turnovers last week against Texas Tech as they defeated the Red Raiders. But the Cougars have struggled on the road and that’s not a good recipe for success when facing the number 7 team in the country. However, Texas starting quarterback Quinn Ewers is out for an extended period of time which means backup Maalik Murphy will be making his first career start against a team with the average age of 26! Texas also has several injuries on the defensive side of the ball and up to 6 defensive starters are questionable to play. 19 is just too big of a number for a redshirt freshman making his first start. Texas wins but I like BYU to stay within the number.
BYU/Texas Over 50
50 is a low total for a Texas team averaging 35 points per game. Yes I know I just said Texas is starting their backup quarterback but it’s not like this Texas offense won’t be able to score with all those weapons. I don’t expect Texas to score 40 but I think with the rushing attack, and Sark taking controlled shots down the field Texas will still probably score 30. On the other side, Texas defense gave up 34 two games ago and then 24 last week to Houston. Guess who runs the same type of offense as Houston? Yep you guessed it, BYU. The Cougars have a veteran quarterback and can light you up from the pocket if he’s not pressured and with Texas injury situation on defense, I can see BYU getting to 20 points easily. I like Over 50 points.
Tennessee -3 (at Kentucky)
I gave out the Volunteers +9 last week and they should have covered for us because they were up 21-10 at halftime. Then Alabama outscored them by 27 points in the second half and we took the loss. I’m giving Rocky Top another chance because I think they are a pretty good football team with an elite defense. Kentucky is a good team as well and running back Ray Davis might be the best runner in the country. But I think Tennessee wins this won leaning on that defense. Come on Rocky Top, Rocky Top Tennessee!
Wisconsin +14.5 (home v. Ohio State)
A night game at Camp Randall Stadium. If this game is close after the 3rd quarter when they play Jump Around, I will be ecstatic because that means we have a chance to win this one and the crowd will be rocking. Ohio State covered for us last week at home against Penn State in the “Donna Carter Lock of the Week.” When I asked DC for her lock this week, she said she was only focused on the Texas Rangers winning the World Series. So maybe she’s retired with an undefeated record? Only time will tell. I think Ohio State will have a bit of a letdown this week, and the Badgers are primed for a big upset at home, but I’ll gladly take the 14.5 points.
UCLA -16.5 (home v. Colorado)
Does anyone remember Colorado’s last game? I do, it was two weeks ago when they blew a 28 point lead to Stanford and lost. Does anyone remember UCLA’s last game? I do, it was last week when the Bruins defeated that same Stanford team 42-7. UCLA’s defense is extremely stout and that Buffalo offensive line is like a passed out bouncer at a night club, they’re letting everyone through. I think the Bruins maul the Buffaloes at home in LA and cover the 16.5 point spread.
